February was full of exciting events. We started the month with a huakaʻi to Kakoʻo ʻŌiwi and worked with other volunteers to clear invasive weeds out of two loʻi kalo.

We closed out the month with a huakaʻi to Lahaina to work with the Lahaina Community Land Trust. We learned how the trust is supporting the community after the devastating fires and helped mālama ʻāina at one of the trust's properties.

In between, haumāna applied what they learned at Go Farm in January clearing "donuts" around the citrus trees at Kahumana to add nutrients and mulch, practiced research skills to learn more about the work we would be doing in Lahaina, and made earrings with the lauhala we gathered on our huakaʻi to Waimea Valley in December.
